What is "Clean Room" ?
A clean room is an enclosed space which maintains low level of air pollutant inside. They are used in variety of industries including electronics, medical, food, and so on. Requirements for a clean room differs by each industry. Directional airflow clean room or Non-directional airflow clean room are supposed to be selected accordingly.

The user of a clean room should follow a specific procedure to prevent the entry of outdoor contaminants. Anyone entering a clean room are required to wear cleanwear. Any foreign matter attached to the cleanwear, including hair or dust, are removed by the air shower at an entrance. Furthermore, any equipment and materials to be brought inside are supposed to be cleaned before entry.
An effective ventilation system and positive air pressure are introduced to keep clean air inside. In addition, to prevent dust accumulation and build-up, clean room surfaces are flat and smooth that is easy to clean.
Classification of Clean Room
Clean room classification and standards are adopted by Federal Standard 209E (FS209E), International Standards Organization (ISO), or Japan Industrial Standards (JIS).
FE209E has 6 classes according to the quantity of particles, in size of 0.5μm or larger, per cubic foot. On the other hand, ISO and JIS are classified into 8 classes, based on the quantity of particles, in size of 0.1μm or larger, per cubic meter.

Ventilation in Clean Room
HEPA filter or ULPA filter are the most common filtration system applied in the clean room. These are specially designed for the clean room application. The table below shows the rough indication of ventilation frequency in each class of the clean room.
However, to secure cleanliness of the clean room, it is necessary to measure the concentration or quantity of particles in the air. The real-time ambient monitoring is the one effective solution.

Air Particle Monitor: Securing Cleanliness
Air Particle Monitor, applying the light-scattering principle, monitors the quantity of mass concentration of flying particle (0.3 micron or larger) including dust and aerosol in the atmosphere in the real-time.
Air Particle Monitor is suitable under Class 7 to 9 clean room. It continuously monitors ambient condition and outputs an alarm contact to secure safe and clean environment. In addition, measuring result can be monitored by PCs or mobiles by wi-fi function.
